The Tour
Dad's flight begins and ends at Goodspeed Airport in East Haddam, Connecticut, on the banks of the beautiful Connecticut River, just south of the famous Swing Bridge.
- Per federal regulations, no stops are permitted, and the flight must remain within a 25 mile radius of Goodspeed.
- Within these guidelines, however, Dad can see anything he wants. If he wishes, he can even experience the special thrill of trying his hands at the controls, once airborne.
(Please Note: Dad's choice of aircraft determines how far we can go. However, both are able to tour the magnificent Long Island Sound and many Central Connecticut/River Valley locations.)
Two airplanes to choose from...
Cessna Cardinal—
Sleek, fast and roomy, cruising up to 140 mph!
- Holds the pilot and 3 passengers, so Dad can share the adventure with two other people!
- This plane is the better choice if Dad wants to see more sites during the tour.
(Please Note: Weight and balance considerations may further limit the number of passengers.)
1946 Classic Piper Cub—
An experience you will never forget!
- One of the most famous airplanes ever built. Slow, sedate, it cruises at 60 to 70 mph.
- Passenger sits in the front seat. And if you want, the door and window can stay open!
- The Cub won't go as far as the Cardinal, but the visibility it provides makes for an incredible experience.
(Please Note: There are size and weight limits for this plane. The front seat may be cramped for some individuals. Others might not be able to climb in or out of the cabin. In such cases, the Cardinal would be the more appropriate choice.)
Your Pilot...
Captain Tom Walsh is an international airline pilot with over 10,000 flight hours logged in aircraft as diverse as a small Piper Cub to giant airliners. He started flying at age 15 and was trained as a Naval aviator in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served his country as a Marine fighter pilot and instructor, and has been employed as a commercial airline pilot ever since 1987.
Capt. Walsh is the owner of Shoreline Aerial Photography, and lives in Ivoryton, Connecticut with his wife and two children.

Flight must be scheduled in advance and must take place within six months of purchase.
Flight dates are subject to availability. Be sure to call ahead to schedule a flight.
Scheduled flights are always subject to weather-related cancellations at the discretion of the pilot. Canceled flights will be rescheduled.
